towel warning for thatch...

Postby carvel2 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 9:12 pm

Bought myself a brown towel to try and solve the white spots on my celtic thatch projects.
Hmmm...made two huts for those cursed celts BUT..
my white towel is much much better because it has super long loops. THe 'new' towel looked good enough but hasnt the same depth and look under the pva.
So...get the thickest towels for any thatch projects is my humble advice.
Hope thats of some help :D

White spots? Have you tried giving a spray (black) undercoat/primer to the thatch after the PVA has dried? it might cure this.

Thanks for the tip.

You are certainly correct about using quality towel. I used the first old towel at hand for my latest project, and it looks pretty sad compared to the earlier ones I made.
