All my Greek stuff so far for HC

Postby Gunfreak » Sat Apr 07, 2012 5:39 pm

This is my latest finished unit, they are ALOT of hard work, the armor takes a long time to finish, there is also alot of figures, each pike block is 40 figures.
Thats a minimun of 4 days of hard painting for me.

Great stuff. Can anybody educate me on the coloured helmet/armour thing. Seen a lot of that, like it, but wondered if it is 'true' . (pulls up chair and waits for IO) :D

Well I to were suprised by just how colorfull some of these units are, even pink armor has been used, but it does look like even if it wasn't standard, it was infact common, The blue and red helments have evidence in vase art and wall art, I even think they have found some real archiologial evidence for the blue helmets(tho I'm not sure about that one) but we do as I said have evidence through the vase and wall paintings.

I love colorfull troops, so I go buy this very simple rule "mediteranian people loved color" So I do very colorfull troops, my romans are slightly more conservative with regular bronze helments.

But all my helments are one of three colors, red, varies blues, and regular bronze, I have not seen any evidence for green or or white helments, but red and blue seems to have been common, so I got all out with them.

The armor atleast the linothorax was either sevral layers of linen or linen over metal, or leather or leather over metal, both linen and leather takes a huge veriaty of color, so you really got free hands with that one.

Again this is just my take on it, I'm no scholar of the period, I'm new to the period, I only go by what more knowlagebale tell me.

Those colours are far out! Can you dig it?

Looks great!
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

The pikes are from North Star Miniatures, they are made of brass, I get them from aventine miniatures, you can buy them 4 and 4 or a pack of 40.
