So what army will you play?

Postby Paul @ Warlord Games » Wed Dec 17, 2008 5:18 pm

Bugger that - I'm still thinking about a Red Devils Vickers team and a 75mm Howitzer to support my British Airborne.

Steve was giving me grief about doing an ECW army today and I caved in to looking at a Seige of Nottingham Parliament army or possibly Cornish Royalists at Lansdown.

Now, where did I put that PIAT team...

Cheers

Paul

I am going ot do an early imperialist. Apparently Wallenstein insisted that his standards must be exaclty in the middel of the big pike blocks. Clearly a modeller at heart. I am toying with pike units at 8x8 with shot on each flank. I want to make them look like the 17 C prints. That means Currassier units in 9x3!

Having lived just a few miles from Fort Christina (or at least the park that it is now), I can't help but do some Swedes first.

Although my knowledge of the ECW is pretty sold, I am somewhat vague on TYW. Can anybody recommend a good starting point, preferably a single volume? I see that Osprey have one, but you know Osprey...

The Thirty Years War von C.V. Wedgwood is a good starting point.

Yup, new model army for me, even though I've not finished painting the last one, oh, I see, that New Model Army. Embarassed

I can't believe I stooped to that, I have no shame. Well come on, I'm a grown up, (so called) playing with toy soldiers, what need have I for shame?

Having just seen the new photos on the WG website (oh my god they are nice: http://www.warlordgames.co.uk/?p=1383) I think I'll modify my plans for armies to a Parliamentarian army and a Swedish one.
Wow those ECW models are nice!
