But seriously...British TV IS better IMHO...you guys seem to have so many history shows and documentaries!! Over here all anyone seems to care about is who's getting voted off the island, the Kardashians, or who is singing/dancing the best.... :cry:

Unfortunately, that's what we, well I, think over here about our TV. I walk out of the room when my wife turns on "Britain's Got Talent" or "X-Factor" or whatever. Can't stand it. I will admit that I do like watching "Strictly Come Dancing" though.

Now, with the recession and what have you, the quality of our programmes is slipping and we are starting to produce drivel. :roll:

I would leave the programme making to the Germans and the Russians. Both have produced some really good war films and documentries.

Soviet Storm is fantastic and I am quite sure it is Russian made with an English voice over. The graphics are unbelievable and just hope they utilise this technology in the next generation of War films.War films have improved recently and now tend to strive for authenticity as far as possible with the vehicles etc. Gone are the days when the Germans would turn up in an American M3 halftrack with over sized crosses on. THey tend to turn up these days is Czech made Hanomags manufactured in the 50s for the Czech Cold War army. However these films and documentaries tend to be small scale affairs. and the really big battles I think will be done with computer graphics. Just need Holywood now to invest in a really good War Film. For me Battle of the Bulge would be a good one to remake as it couldn't be made any worse! :lol:

I looked for it it over here in the US and couldn't find it. Hopefully it's on it's way.

I have grown quite fond of the BBC in recent years. I just can't watch US network TV. Reality trash, "gritty" forensic cop shows, and lawyers. Ugh. Same old stuff, just different faces.

At least US comedy shows are on the upturn though. Our network comedy mostly consists of reruns of shows that were already dreadful 10 years ago.

Shows like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men are pure genius.

Those two ARE pretty good!

Well, I can do without Kelso, but BB is a great show.

If only I could watch the Military Channel or Yesterday, alas the Sky box has fried again so I'm stuck with Freeview.
As such all I can watch is BBC news channel or repeats of Top Gear...
The rest seems to be a pile of pre-credit-crunch property auction shows. :roll:

Yesterday is available on Freeview. Channel 12 or 13, I think.

Dependent on weather conditions/phase of the moon/pigeons on the aerial...
Seriously over half the channels tend to pixelate most of the time, if it's really bad weather or cloudless blue skies increase that to just about everything beyond Ch4...

@red

Have you tried getting a cheap freesat box, it should be able to plug staight into your satellite dish for sky and may give you a better signal than going through your aerial.

@The Topic

I have to agree that Soviet storm and The English Civil War series have both been excellent.
