D Day Movie ideas.

In the run up to our clubs very big campaign, I intend in stepping up my painting activities this long Esaster weekend.Whilst painting I love running DVDs with the theme that I am doing and therefore looking for ideas for DVDs that I can obtain in time for the weekend.

The Movies/Films I currently own are

The longest Day
Saving Private Ryan
Band of Brothers Boxed set.

Are there any others that you guys could recemmend.? :?:

I found it to be a soulful film, more so when you know the Director was a 1st Inf Veteran and was there.

The biggest disappointment for me with Big Red One was the 'making of' feature that came with it, where they claim to have scoured European scrapyards for authentic period vehicles. Then they fill the screen with what look VERY much like Pattons. Scoured the scrapyards my ****. :p Could have been worse. Could have had a Death Star in it....

D-Day the Sixth of June is quite good, bit of a cheesy love story going on but despite that not a bad film.

The Longest Day - THE classic
Saving Private Ryan - has the beaches at the beginning
Band of Brothers - the first couple of episodes show the run-up to the invasion and the invasion

I thought the BBC documentary/ drama series D-Day to Berlin (narrated by Sean Bean) was quite good. I had a quick look at the BBC shop and unfortunately it looks as if people can only buy the series as part of a combined WWII collection at the moment.http://www.bbcshop.com/history/world-war-two-collection-the-dvd/invt/bbcdvd1728/&bklist=

Storming Juno was fantastic has been on History channel in UK , a must watch for me
