So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, à Bientôt, Goodbye

Postby Correus » Sun Apr 01, 2012 6:44 pm

Well - I have finally come to the decision that I'm leaving the hobby.

I'm never going to get my minis painted and based, there are no opponents in the area who want to game historicals (only sci-fi and fantasy), the gaming room is never going to get finished and to top it all off - SWMBO threw a royal hissy-fit when I mentioned buying more ECW minis.

It's to the point the house and yard are taking up way too much time, energy and money to fix and the same goes for the Land Rover. So - something has to give and the logical 'something' is wargaming.

That being said, I'm giving everything away - first come first serve - with a few items going to specific people on this list. You will be responsible for postage. I'm keeping all the books and such but all the minis are going bye-bye.

So, in the grand exit style of Biggus Dickus - "So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, à Bientôt, Goodbye".
“conscribe te militem in legionibus. pervagare orbem terrarium. inveni terras externas. cognosce miros peregrines. eviscera eos” ̴ “Join the legions, see the world, travel to foreign parts, meet interesting and exotic people, and disembowel them.”

:o :( :(
Will be sorry to see you go... Surely you can find a few minutes to pop on here and chat with your toy soldier buddies every so often... Even if it's just the Friday thread!

Correus - I've been a wargamer for 53+ years & I made that mistake many years ago. I ended up resenting SWMBO as she stole more & more of my life & happiness. Perhaps you can pare things down in compromise, but don't give up the hobby entirely or you may find it building resentments where there shouldn't be. Find a balance.

You're not allowed to do them after 12pm you know.

I have to agree with both Mike and Sven here. My wife made me give up the hobby a number of years ago and actually threw away a lot of my stuff. We almost divorced at that point! However, I am rebuilding, but it is hard work. Enjoyable, but hard and slow. :(

Surely, there is no need to cut all ties? There's the Friday Night thread, or should that be the Weekend thread?
It's sad that people are leaving regardless of the reason :(

I take it that this means you won't me meeting us all at Salute, then? That is sad too! :( :(

Best wishes, Correus. Nice to have known you. :D

Yikes! Drastic move Correus. I have pared my stuff down, but by no means am I ever leaving this hobby; it's just too enjoyable. My wife? Damn the wife. (must type quickly, she is about ... :? )

Well, hope you change your mind, and if not, it's been nice to have you around. Stop in sometime?

Cheers
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Yeah, don't disappear completely, pop in from time to time. I've done what grants done recently and scaled back to just 3 projects.

Seriously, just stop for a year. Now you have bought the figures squirrel them away until the house and the Landy are finished. By then GW will be so expensive your frinds will have converted to historicals :D

+1 to all the above. I suggest that you stow them away and let things settle down for a bit.

You can always give them away later on.

I just sent him a PM - I will store his stuff for him - away from the House Tyrant - and mail them back when he wants to get on with things. We need to look out for each other!

Up against all House Tyranny!
