Warlord Games - The Tour

Postby Deadmanwade » Sun Apr 01, 2012 7:35 am

Hi All,

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be given a guided tour of the Warlord facilities by the awesome Kristen. Despite being a little late due to getting somewhat lost in Nottingham, I received a very warm welcome from all of the Warlord team (no doubt helped in some part due to the bag of bribes I took with me).

As there were some requestsfor photos from the inside of the Warlord offices, I took my camera with me and grabbed a few shots on my way round.

Kristen met me at the entrance to the car park, which might seem unimpressive:

As you would expect, Warlord has several cases full of exquisitely painted figures:

The design studio and was up on the 1st floor, where everyone was hard at work:

Now, you may be thinking that those offices are a little small, they aren't they just need a lot of space for Paul's workspace:

Similarly, the production area was also pretty busy:

And I got a chance to meet Alessio, who told me all about the new Bolt Action game and Rick, who chatted with me about how he got into designing the best wargames in the world.

And that's about it for the tour. I would like to thank everyone at Warlord for the hospitality and taking the time out of their busy day to teach me about where models come from and how games get made. I had an awesome trip. The only disappointing thing was that Steve Morgan looks less like a pirate than his profile page would imply. http://www.warlordgames.com/the-warlord ... s-manager/

The visit was the highlight of my trip to the UK.

P.s. To anyone intending to visit Warlord Games, here is some useful advice. Take biscuits! :D

Are you sure that was the first time you've met Rick? Look like twins to me. Or are you his stunt double? ;)

Just biscuits alright, or were they Jaffa Cakes? :D

Now ... did anyone else spot the cover art for 'Albion Triumphant' in the background? This looks very much like the next Limited Edition model too. Good scoop!

I saw that! I was feverishly studying the greens on the desk to try and work out what any of them are!

Really great thread!

Thanks.

Some of the greens were for Alessio's Shuuro game. They looked great. There were a whole bunch of other things scattered across Wojtek's desk. Some larger '3-Ups' as well as smaller 28mm stuff.

Biscuits, not cakes. The ones I took were Hob-Nobs if I recall correctly, along with some Japanese rice crackers. They seemed to disappear quite quickly once the packets were opened. There was talk of imposing a biscuit based entrance fee on anyone visiting the company.

Nice pics! I can't wait for 2013 now. Trip is authorized, expenditure is fit to budget. Camera is ready!

I too spot the cover of Albion Triumphant! Too bad we can't make out some of the greens and the 3-ups (more plastics, those...)

Edit: I am disappointed that Steve isn't a pirate.

Okay - which pic is the 'Albion Triumphant' cover art in - the one with the guys at the PCs? The only cover art I saw was the one for the American Infantry.

If you spot the pike & Shotte standard bearer, to the left is the Albion Triumphant pic.
