From conversations with Paul recently, the Pike and Shotte rules really can't be far from being ready.

Huzzah!
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

So rules are now on preorder (another rousing cheer!) so is it possible to find out basing convention for the rules. Did anyone email Steve about it (don't want to pester him with a question he may have answered) or can anyone enlighten us unwashed masses (and of course those of you with better personal hygiene than myself)

On my phone waiting for Hunter Games to open. The basing and unit size I believe I posted a few pages back - response from Steve to a an email (- and a thanks to Stev for his time!)

I guess you mean this one:

grant wrote:This was the answer to my questions:

Hi Grant

The basic command formation is a 'battalia', each battalia is made up of
elements (or units if you prefer). The smallest viable infantry battalia is
one that represents a regiment of 1 pike block with 2 musket wings.
Each element has its own stat line, and there are rules for how they
interact, how close they have to be etc.
A battalia may well contain multiple pike and musket elements (12 seems to
be the maximum feasible number) to represent tercios, Dutch brigade
formations etc.

A pike element needs to have a minimum of 12 figures (including the command)
to be a standard sized unit. Pike need to be a minimum of 3 ranks deep to
gain all benefits (we have found that 16 seems to be the most common size
for a pike block).
Musket elements should be a minimum of 8 strong, in 2 ranks.

Standard ratio is 1 pike element to 2 musket.

We have a campaign system written, we just need to make sure there is room
in the book or whether it is something we put online.

Hope that helps

All the Best

Steve

Which is cool, all makes sense. I can base my pike on 80x80mm bases then (assuming 4 models wide and deep). thanks

That's the one! It's a pain to copy that much text on my phone.

80x80 would be perfect. Locally, we are on individual 25mm bases, my fault as I started with Renegade which are physically too big to fit on 20mm.

So out pike blocks will be 100x75, muskets 100x50. Cav I don't know about yet.

I'd assume (!) as cavalry are supplied with 25x50mm bases a multiple of that would be correct. I'd further assume 150mm frontage and 100mm deep would be optimal :?
