Go on... you know you want to... the P&S are a lovely range.

Must resist ... must resist ... I have a box full of Molon Labe Border Reivers (to mention but part
of my backlog of minis) to paint, which I'm saving 'til my painting skills can do them justice (lovely
figs, quite big). Won't be so colourful or varied to paint as these TYW Swedes, though - they really
are a treat.

It's been a long time since this thread got any sort of love from me, about as long ago as the miniatures themselves, so a little threadomancy is in order =)

I've had a long break, the TYW "hype" at the club I'm infrequently visiting kind of died of, and I got myself into crazy things such as painting GW figures (I warn you, don't try it, you will just cry when you need to pay for them). But the prospect of getting a Warlord rules set soon got my inspiration going again, and I knew just what the army needed the most; Commanders!

So I got my command figures that has been locked away in blisters and boxes for six months and got to painting, and with just about a weekend of painting time I now have four commanders ready for battle.

More closeups on them all can be seen on my blog

I have to say that even though Gustavus Adolphus horse looks a bit wonky, it was a fun miniature to paint, and the five year old boy in me wanted to take him and with hoof sounds push him around the table ;)

For now I'm in the process of putting some guns and some cuirassiers together, I just don't know what will be painted next, the hope of a completed army is still living.

Gorgeous work, the banners really make the whole thing stand out. The GA horse is kind of Disney-esque in the posing, but you've done a great job of it!

Way to go! Nice work, and thanks for the inspiration.

Will you rebase them for Pike & Shotte? I believe 4 infantry on a 40x40 base is some kind of "recommendation", much like Black Powder (with generous room for variations as long as the opposing armies are not too different)?

I think the unit sizes are what are important, 12 pike + 8 shotte + 8 shotte for a standard unit. Commanders should be scenic or something. And they can only recommend! :D

Lovely work, I'm sure they will be fine as they are for P&S. Like the converted ensigns.

I have no intention right now to rebase them, they are originally based for use with FOG:R and since BP-like games don't give a crap about how the units is really based they will stay as they are =)

But thanks for the comments, I've actually just built a house for them to defend as well, I'll try get some pictures up for that during the day.

I guess most of us have this boy still living inside. :D

I like the vignette style of your staff bases. With some decades of gaming I saw many base systems coming and going. So use the style you like best and don't bother with the one that is in vogue now.

And never give up the idea of a complete army. I know the what will be painted next problem only too well myself. :P

Those are gorgeous wee vignettes right there.

Inside what? Is that him in my duodenum, playing his loud music till gone midnight? I've a good mind to swallow some tapeworm eggs just to drive him out.

Lovely command stands !!!

No re-basing for us, you know we all have based the same way at the club, our only problem are that we never get around to play with our toys...

Best regards Dalauppror...that commanding the Spanish army that defeated the Swedish at Battle of Nördlingen 1634 8-)
