I'm not so worried about the GW change, I'm still going to lay in a stock of my favourite drybrushing colours though, like Bleached Bone. Hard to get the stuff in droppers to just the right consistency I find. Was exactly the same when Humbrol stopped doing Authentics - no more Unbleached Linen and French Artillery Green seemed like the end of the world.

I really don't understand all the hatred towards GW just because they are going to change the names of their paints and double the range available.

I have taken offence, The only thing they might be doubling are the prices..the only childish thing here is GW customer base,it is easy for them to exploit people who can't think for themselves, my advice would be to wake from your slumber.
i used to Love GW, but love turns to hate when you are just a cash cow to them......

If you can't see what they are doing, carry on pal, keep taking your pocket money in there, to the gripper stebson that is warhammer.....

Oh some more advice, read the thread, I don't want GW apologists commenting on this thread I asked for advice on paint, if you can't bring anything to the thread then perhaps you shouldn't comment.

Yes, there was a time when I loved the GW too. Heck, I used to run events for them, and even gave painting lessons. One day, I even won a Golden Demon. Well, it was second place, so a "silver" Golden Demon. Ironically, my model for the Demon contest was painted all in Vallejo. I had given up on GW paint during the sticky lid years of the black pot intro.

The flip lids weren't bad. Washes are a decent thing. When they went to Chinese manufacturing, I stopped cold. You don't know what the heck goes into those products. They put freaking melamine into pet food. No thanks.

Honestly, this new range will be more money, less quality, and is just another highly visible example of GW screwing the hobbyist to make the shampoo salesman Mark Wells some more money. It's all about the dead presidents.

Anyway, BD, I will reiterate, regardless of which brand you pick - any of them will be better than GW!

@grant, while I agree with you about Saddle Brown and Dark Flesh, I am afraid I do not reckon that Khemri and US field drab are a good match. I have been looking for a 'dark khemri' colour from Vallejo for a while now but have not found one. It an an obvious thing really i suppose but why Vallejo bother having a printed colour chart I do not know, as many of the colours on the chart are nothing like the real things. I have purchased quite a few colours that turned out to be not what I wanted. I think that is one advantage of the non-dropper pots sold by GW, as you can flip open the lid in the shop to see the actual paint colour.
@ BD I have not used them, but lots of people rave about Coat D'arms paints and I believe they are similar to GWs range, although mail order only.

Interesting. Like I have said, I gave on GW a loooong time ago, so it was a "best guess". Keep us posted!

Vallejo have a swatchbook that uses the actual paints - its pricey, but the stores that keep Vallejo often have one, so you can check before you buy.
