Hey guys, if you don't mind on a change of subjects there is a small gap in the US paratroopers range. The Normandy paratroopers had a few sniper teams armed with US Springfield sniper rifles.I'm not sure if the the Airborne had the BAR [Browning Automatic Rifle] in Normandy, but they had it after I'm sure. Thanks! George

Hi George,

We had looked into both of these troop types but not come up with any info suggesting there were scoped snipers in Normandy.

BAR gunners were Market Garden onwards.
Cheers,

OK thanks for the info, I wasn't quite sure. What about Engineerers? the US airborne had Engineerers in the TV show "Band of Brothers" and were armed with an M1-Carbine rifle and TNT charges. Thanks!

There wouldn't be any kit or uniform differences between a specifically explosives trained man and any other. He may have attained a Technician grade rank. In BoB as in real life most GI's were familiar in the use of TNT blocks and they would be carried by them in either the M-1936 Canvas Field Bag/Haversack/"Musette" on a shoulder strap or most likely the M1 Ammunition Carrying Bag/"GP Bag", the latter was used in the BoB series (and was a rather nice Transitional model). Also like the BoB series, explosives had a tendancy to be handed along a line to get to the person closest to where they need to go so it's reasonable to believe that any number of paratroopers in an original photograph could have several Kg's of explosives secreted about their persons, given their penchant for filling their uniforms with useful stuff sewing random pockets and pouches all over themselves.

Hi all, how about a British infantry sniper team. Loads of para snipers available, but struggling to find any for my infantry.

Could you also please do some crews for the Universal carriers, M5 half tracks and Airbourne jeeps.

Cheers

Hi George,

I suggest .30 cal M1C rifles, .50 cal HB HMGs and 81mm mortars for the US airborne range. Acording Nafziger (http://www.cgsc.edu/carl/nafziger.htm) they have these weapons in december of 1944.

Carlos

The issue is that for Market Garden the airborne had the new M43 uniforms so December 1944 is outside the timeline of the current range. Outside the fact that adding pockets to the M43 trousers seemed the thing there was little to separate them from Normal PBI
If That period is what you'd like then again, have a look at the Classic American range and pick around any that may have the M-1928 packs.

Hey guys Tim made a pretty good point. There is no British halftrack crews. US halftrack crews would be superb to if possible.
I'm pretty sure that British snipers just had scoped Lee Enfield rifles that the british boxed set set has but correct me if I'm wrong.
Don't you all still think that US airborne engineers would neat? I know that there uniform is the same from regular infantry, but they
did have either TNT or Comp B charges in canvas field bags. Engineers also had Gammon grenades. [extra explosive anti tank
grenades].

There were no engineers, though, just people trained slightly more than another so all they would be is alternate models. If you want to add a GP bag to a model there's one in the reference thread but GP bags don't always go with someone who has TNT block and a GP bag hardly means he has TNT.

Hello all I researched some more and found out that the US airborne engineers in Normandy did not exist but they were known as Technicians and they had the equipment that Parus and I were talking about.Technicians would also be fielded with other heavy equipment.
Thanks! George :)
