There's nothing about rhe Daily Mash that doesn't get me belly-chuckling. Love the side ads there too - 'Is the celebrity diet we recommended last week killing you?'.

@big al
Thanks for the link
Wasn't aware of Daily Mash at all so far
Too much painting under my duvet I guess ;)

As for the new paints,
well, I just decided to go Vallejo all the way.
Even their washes seem equally good if not better.
GW will lose me as customer completely now.
I still cherish the good old days but I simply lost interest in their products :o
On the other hand I have to say the same in respect of Foundry.
The minis are dull compared to other/ cheaper manufacturers and
as much as I like the paints, I find the postage outrageous in these Times of Austerity...
And no, I'm not buying one of their books to get free postage, thank you!

Cheers

Yes agree with S.P.
I use a mix of paint maufacturers but based around the G.W. system, but now phasing them out completely in favour of Vallejo and a few foundry paints...as well as of course those craft paints from hobby craft......in reality i started phasing out GW about a year ago...dropping certain colours, but I'm so fed up with GW bottles, lids, prices and now the name changing/ colour changing nonsense. It's not worth the trouble to stay with them and adapt to the new system.

On a brighter note The daily mash is funny not seen that before might be reading that more from now on ;)

Daily Mash cheered me up!

I also use a mixture of paint manufacturers, but GW and Vallejo mainly... however I worry that this new GW range will either herald smaller pot sizes (10ml?) or a large price hike, I could see up to £2.70/£2.80 a pot... hope I am wrong because GW are easiest for me to get and I am a devlan mud fan.

For Devlan Mud fans, the Vallejo Sepia Was in the large tub is my choice now. I like it more, it's a fraction of the price by volume too. Can't go wrong.

thanks grant been using their umber shade in a dropper pot and a large tub of black wash..(which i think was another of your tips!!!) but will get some sepia now....
have to say Mike's concerns are probably valid...GW pot size likely to be the same only with less paint in 5ml??? Then hike in price to £3.50....it wouldn't shock me to see that, that is, after all, their modus operandi.

Umbra wash does for me, slightly lighter than Devlan Mud for even smoother shading and totally matte.
Fantastico :D
The Flesh wash is really great for shading redcoats btw.
Haven't tried the other washes yet but ordered grey, red, and black as well now.
Happy to report back when I tried them.

So long awkward GW pots!

This is the biggest thread on the forum (I think) and I don't believe I've contributed to it yet  , anyway back to the current topic, this has really got my back up, if GW are changing all their paint names and system I think that's the final straw for me, not that I spend alot in their stores, but the constant price tweaks, ridiculous sales banter (ok I'm an adult I can say no), and now changing the paints, which I admit I primarily use, I can't be bothered with them anymore, (although I do need another battle mat but there's always ebay). I shall have to look into this Vallejo malarky, I used them once a long time ago and wasn't too sure, time to try again I think.

I would like to echo the thanks for the Daily Mash, I'd somehow managed to miss that one. Added it to my daily browse now :)

I'm starting to come round to Vallejo more now too. I'm getting used to working with a wet palette. But as with the old Humbrol Authentics there are some GW colours I really like to use. And the great big pots of cheap acrylics from Hobbycraft also have their uses. I spent ages mixing those to match Graveyard Earth so I wouldn't have to spend a fortune just putting the undercoat on bases.

Do we know when the great upheaval in GW paints is due to take place?
