The bridge guard detail is finished...I think ( open to suggestions)
I've ummed and rrrrd about tufftage and think I will commit to it as other figures have it in the 'army' (actually small expeditionary force!)
What have I learnt?
The green stuff makes a reasonable job of the cloaks even for the amatuer. I think its fair to say that putting my cloaks against the standing figures of Warlord really shows of Warlord's quality and finness...the number of folds and sharp edges in the standing sentries is all the more beautiful to my eye after pushing the green stuff round myself.
I would recommend the leather covered shields whole heartedly, beautifully sculpted and 'interesting'
So...the river Ribble bridge head is secure. The drunk centurion is , I think, going to end up in the river.
Hope you like...

Secure, eh? We'll see about that!
Very nice work, Carvel, those cloaks ... but ... do they need them - I mean, the weather looks quite good ... surely that must be the Po, not the Ribble! ;)

Very nice carvel, it is clearly very damp and cold there compared with Roma!!!!.......I'm from the south, i'd likely were a coat myself that far north ;)

Very impressive group...are you going to have a row of kneelers infront of some archers too?

Lovely Carvel, very atmospheric, I love the idea of the troops guarding the bridge dutifully and their officer yakking up behind them :)

NEVER let your men see you puke!!

I have a very, very, funny story in this regard from my days as an Army Officer Cadet - quite x-rated though.....
“conscribe te militem in legionibus. pervagare orbem terrarium. inveni terras externas. cognosce miros peregrines. eviscera eos” ̴ “Join the legions, see the world, travel to foreign parts, meet interesting and exotic people, and disembowel them.”
