Attack of the Melon Drones

Postby Biggus Dickus » Sat Mar 10, 2012 7:17 pm

No sooner had I named my Gladius Spiculum and taken a swig of ale up popped a Water melon Drone
clearly spying on me........
Image

As you know Water Melons are quite tricky blighters very dense very heavy...and not too bright
Image

I asked him to leave nicely, but i didn't get any kind of response......so it was the touch of the cold steel for him....
Image
He blew up all over my garden with one hit.....they will have to try harder than this......
up popped another
Image
What was left of him refused to surrender.....so there was only one thing for it.......
Image
That taught him a lesson he wouldn't forget in a hurry
After the battle all was still......but there was quite a bit of carnage left to tidy up
Image

I would like to point out that No melons were hurt in the making of this forum post ;)

Yers ... I didn't think that melon was long for this world when I saw it on the other thread.

It was either a melon or half a topless shot of Barbara Cartland.

Was that a slashing motion I saw there? Surely your Centurion would be screaming 'Thrust! Thrust!

Yes, and " Go for the belly..."

Very nice and clean cut.

And later cleaning and oiling. Or your body will kiss the vitis.

Personally, I thought those melons deserved all they got! Sneaky blighters invading our shores like that!

hahahahaha Thanks guys....yes Paul you are right...sadly I ran out of melons...I'll thrust on the next one! It would go straight through even if the melon was wearing chain mail
I.O. you can sleep easy! Straight after the battle I cleansed the blade in wd40!....it cost too much to be allowed to rust! ;) oh and in answer to your earlier question, yes point of balance 13 inches up from the pommel haven't done the other test yet (COP) it balances 5 and half inches up from the guard....total length of blade 21 inches.
Have to say it is very comfortable in the hand and very easy to wield. the pommel helps with balance, like a counter weight. it whistles as it passes through the air even at lower speed.....but it is primarily a jabbing/thrusting sword.

The irony is you look at the warlord Roman figures with their tiny swords and you think to yourself how could the Romans dominate the world with such a small sword? Get a real one and see is my advice, it is truely lethal, I can't see what would actually stop it penetrating any Enemy of the time including Roman armour it would just go straight through on a thrust...this one might even do it with a slash....admitidly the romans didn't have tool grade carbon steel!!! but you truely would not want to see these things being jabbed in your direction.
It's truely shocking.

it's nice to make history real and tangible......it's certainly more intersting this way!

Cubster just the thought makes feel quite faint!

I've been oiling up all the garden tools ready for their first outing of the year today. I filter and save all the cooking oil we use, just for jobs that require a load of cheap oil dolloped everything. Surprising how often it gets an outing.

Hmm! There's a lewd comment or two there, Cubster, but I'll leave them for people's fertile imaginations

Cooking oil. The museum conservators would run amok if I would suggest something like that.

For my swords (and tools) I use a classic oil made for arms for over 100 years (1904?) . Can be even used on animals. Recommended for paws, ears and fur. No silicon, no FCKW. Disinfecting. Until some years ago even for men. With my many swords I do a lot of oiling. No creaking of my fingers. ;)
