Learning to play

Postby Stormchaser » Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:55 am

Hi guys!

My copy of Hail Cesar turned up a few days ago and I've been slowly looking through it, and so far, it seems like a fantastic system. I love the apparent freedom you get with the system, allowing you to tailor your army to fit the scenario/period of history.

I want to get my friends involved, and I've found the best way of doing that is to run an introductory game. I'd love to go ahead and build all the armies I have floating around in my head (The VI Victrix Legio, the Celts of Maiden Castle, the army of Arthur at Badon Hill, a Viking raiding force, the Knights Templar, etc. etc. etc.) but alas, like so many of us, I don't have the time, nor the money :(

So, can anyone suggest a good army list or two that will allow my friends and I to play through a few games and still get a well-rounded feel for the game?

Cheers :)

On here? The most obvious is going to be Roman and Barbarian (Celt, Gemanic or Dacian). Start here with the excellent Roman Starter set and the Celtic Tribes set and off you go! :D

If you just want lists to start a game with your existing figures, you can use any army lists you have to hand. Or you can join the Hail Caesar Yahoo Group and take a look in the Files section, where Rick posted a few lists before the Army list book was released.
