Oops!

The loudest I heard was a flypast by the Vulcan. Swooped low over Rotherham town centre. Almost took out the windows with the vibration!

When I was a kid at school some over enthusiastic pilot took a Hunter over Bournemouth supersonic at about 500 feet. Shook all the windows at my school and reportedly broke a load of others. He got into a LOT of trouble.

Loudest plane I ever heard was a US F4 Phantom at RNAS Yeovilton taking off on full reheat. He was showing off because they wanted to sell the things to the Navy. Seems it worked :D

The Vulcan when it used to do it's full display was pretty damn loud too.

A Vulcan did a bombing run at the Victory show a few years ago, that was impressive.

My first model was either a Supermarine Spitfire or a Hawker Hurricane - possibly by Airfix.
My first wargaming model was a 2nd edition 40k Space Marine way back in the mists of time. Still got the box and all the Marines, Orks and Gretchin around somewhere...................

The Vulcan did indeed roar, but the Harrier in the hover, we didn't call it a Bionic Budgie for nothing!
Now look 'ere Flight, it was the other shift.

First I made on my own was an Airfix Bronco, sat at a small table in a caravan, watching the Scottish rain pour down outside. Must have been about seven or eight at the time.

Mine was an Airfix 1/72 Stuka. It came in a plastic bag and I remember the picture on the header - it showed a leopard-spotted Ju87! It cost 2/- (10p for those who don't remember old money ;) ).I saw the same one recently on ebay sold as a "First Edition" for about £40. Perhaps that's progress? :?

I think my first models were a four pack of airfix 1:72 scale jets given to me by one of my first girlfriends (I was age 10ish)
A Red Arrows Gnat, A BAE Hawk Red Arrow, a French Alphajet (french red arrow?) and the other one in the set I struggle to remember, it was a either a swedish saab plane that looked a bit like a Lightning, or a Dassault Mirage possibly? If anyone knows the set let me know!
I made quite a lot of stuff from there onwards including a Jaguar, BAE Harrier, Westland gazelle (really fiddly) , Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Pup, Albatross, and a Fokker triplane I purchased at the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum. The memories are coming back now :geek: ...A10 Thunderbolt, Apache, Concord and then a few tanks...

I still build Airfix. ;)

THe Cromwell tank and the QL/T trucks are both excellent kits.
King Tiger to be released during 2012 which is a great shame really as most 20mm gamers/collectors for Germans tend to be 1/72 scale as opposed to 1/76.
For Britsh it tends to be the other way round ;)
