Jungle/ Meso american terrain ?

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has any Jungle terrain (pics of) that they would be willing to post up. Need some inspiration thanks guys.

p.s. if anyone has any guides or anything like that much appreciated Oh and on a separate note i'm looking into making my own board, where can i get some 2' by 2' boards from? (mdf, plywood etc.) thanks guys.

Heres a little hint as to why i'm wanting to build some jungle terrain

I would use MDF rather than plywood for your boards - not sure about getting them 2'x2' but you can buy an 8'x4' board in homebase and get them to cut it up for you whilst you wait.

I have some jungle stuff on my website but I think GW may have some jungle terrain guides (for lizardmen?) on their website. Failing that, just look at some pics of real jungles on google images.

Plastic plants are a good bet. Ikea have some that come in a pot. You can cut them off the central 'root' with wire cutters, they have a wire core, strip some plastic covering off and with hot glue attach them to a base, hiding the messy bit with some filler. I have seen similar plastic plants in other shops as well but not as many as I used to. I am thinking of making some milliput trunks to fit some into to make bigger trees.

They use the same soft plastic as aquarium plants and only hot glue seems to hold it.

I used to use 6mm MDF bases for clumps of trees and other terrain but the step is rather inconvenient and now I use thinner MDF though most recent trees have been based individually or in twos or threes on round bases from Fenris or Warbases.

My own boards are now 12 × 24 inch MDF. They are 18mm MDF which is too thick and heavy, now I think I would use 12mm but by using two 9mm sheets I could cut holes, rivers, ponds and the like from the top board and glue it to a bottom, depressed terrain without using a router. With boards this thick you could just drill holes into them and stick tress into them as required, maybe standardising on a certain diameter of tube and gluing every tree into one so one diameter of hole fits all.

I wish I could take credit but I can't. They were custom made for me by Miniature World Maker here in Australia. I believe they will be selling them soon (they had to make a 28mm mold up specially for me and feedback has been very positive. )

Basically the base is flexible strong rubber. The palm trees are bendable, they are not plastic like pond plants. They are supplied fully flocked and painted.

I very superior product and I am very happy with the result.

I bought a big load of palm trees from eBay years back, but they're very poor quality and can't be used 'straight out of the tin' as it were. It would require a fair investment of time and effort to make some half decent palm stands. If this supplier can post worldwide and the prices will be comparable to the 15mm sets (ie. $30-$35 or so) then I'll certainly be tempted.
