Okay, I have a question, for those of you in the UK, that's WAY off the hobby topic.

Have any of you heard of the 'British Defence League'? If so, is this some sort of off the wall weirdo type group (we have them here in the US) or is it something taken seriously?

We, or rather "they" have the English Defence League, a racist organisation of neo nazis and football hooligans who turn up in a random city and fight each other. A few hundred of the nutters at most exist.

I've heard of them, but just assumed they are some kind of right-wing organisation and not really taken any notice. Anti-Islamic in particular, I think.
Not for me, I fear, but then I tend to get mightily p****d-off by politics in general.

Yeah, the EDL are exactly the sort of dissatisfied morons you expect to find during times of economic hardship. The persecution of 'The Other' is a well worn scapegoat for those at the bottom of the gene pool as it has been throughout history.

They're just intellectually challenged fools who lack the wit to understand or take responsibility for their own lives, so it's easier to join up with other idiots and reassure each other that it's all someone else's fault that they're such failures.

I actually know a guy that I went to school with who is a member and he raves that they are inclusive of all and that they have people of Afro-Carribean desent and Asians within their ranks and that it is Militant Islam that they are fighting against.

Not advocating support just throwing my tuppence of what I have been told about them.

There is also a Ulster, Welsh and Scottish Defence League as part of the whole set up.

Only red faced skinheads you see at their things, though And the "Scottish Defence League" ARE the EDL, the Lothian and Borders police managed to stop a demo by the "SDL" in Edinburgh a couple of years ago simply by arresting known Stoke and Chelsea football hooligans getting of the Train at Waverly Station.

There was a story in the press from about a year ago, they booked three 57 seater coaches to take them somewhere to stand in a car park and get drunk. The buses get there and there 25 of them so two buses leave and they got on one. On the way back the bus is turning a corner and clips a car at low speed - literally inches per hour - and grazes the front bumper. The next week, now remember, it's a 57 seater bus with 25 on it, insurance claims for 78 EDL members come in for their whiplash injuries!

Yup, idiots!
