For smaller single squad games you can use Iron Ivan's Point Blank. An excellent set of skirmish rules which will allow you to use the excellent Empress Minis and not need masses of them, or an enormous table to cope with ranges. Point Blank covers from the mid war period to modern times. So you can use them for VBCW games all the way through! 10 figures per side is all you need.
Gripping Beast sell 28mm Falklands War figures in their Mofo range. Disposable Heroes supplement "Seek Out, Close With, And Destroy" covers the Falklands War and the Blackhawk Down Operation Gothic Serpent. Link below. http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.p ... od_101_000

Eureka Miniatures, Red Star Miniatures and The Assault Group are others that sell 28mm moderns...

However for larger scale battles John (Mausman) has produced a set of reference charts that mainly cover the Cold War but include references for the M1A1 Abrams and Chally 1s .THese charts are designded to be used in conjunction with Rapid Fire.John isn't on this forum but is on the Guild forum of whch you will need to join to get full access.
I have these just in case our guys at our club havn't finished developing the main rules for kGN to be played as a Cold War game as I want to have a large scale Cold War game around my 50th Birthday in November.
I second about Elheim figures. The are very nicely sculpted by Matt and he gives a brilliant service as well. He is also availble on the Guild forum.
For those who don't know the Guld is a Forum primarily but not exclusivley for 20mm modellers.
Battlefront branched out into Vietnam, using their Flames of War rules and a new line of 15mm figures, but the options available are still somewhat limited.
