Hmmm A very very mixed selection of models probably covering most ranges and eras of models .Nice to see some of you are turning to the often neglected side of the hobby ie buildings. One of the reasons I am delaying a new range of figures/army is that I am determined to do some scenery work this year especially for my WW2 Brits and Germans to fight over. I have been buying in some buildings including the Waterloo Farmhouse, 2Airfix Command Post sets,an Italeiri Bridge( £5.00 in Hobbycraft sale) and a couple of the Airfix Resin buildings . I do like the Hornby Skaledale Church and may put that on my list as well.

If I'm honest, I find terrain and buildings the most exciting to look at, especially if they've got interiors which is why I want to have them for when BA comes out. I'll be honest and say I've never built anything "modern" in style before, generally only fantasy and Sci-fi stuff so this is a bit of a challenge for me. I've been picking over Drumsticks cafe and period pictures, especially the "Then and now" types so you get a clear look at the parts that haven't been changed since then.
Anyway, my poor quality progress so far....





I've made the door a smidge larger than scale so the bases have clearance and so scaled up the windows to match since the Carentan/St Mere buildings tend to have the window and door tops in alignement.

It never occurred to me to check the door sizes for base/figure clearance, I just guessed that 1x2" should be sufficient. But it's all glued now so I'm committed

I guess if they don't fit I'll just avoid figures standing in the threshold

I think mine are a little oversize which I was expecting, that's why I've made it a largish building, if it does look a little odd then I can reduce the sizes and leave that one as a grander looking frontage.

Looking good so far Parus. The modeller tends to be his/her worst critic.

For me in 20mm its not as important about detailing the insides. If the roof lifts off then all the better. Otherwise the figures may be left off table on a space reserved for building "x" etc. Some of my buildings are a solid lump of resin from my 15mm days but will pass for a smaller 20mm building. when it comes to height there isn't a vast difference between some of the larger 15mm and smaller 20mm ranges.

The issue I have is that modelling is an adult homologous to playing with lego for me so things need to be able to have the tops lifted off and look like what it's supposed to. I'm not good enough to go into micro detail but stairs, empty rooms with decorated walls and wooden floors and I'm happy.
