Well hurry up with the Eighth Army man and we won't get so distracted!

Distracted ... that's a funny word ... I wonder if anyone's ever been 'tracted' ... I'll go look it up ...

Invisible officer wrote:;) You are right Cubster , But I realy get  from all that pseudo nationalistic fuss from Bavarians or Scotsmen. In Oxford I met a NY "Scotsman". Proud that his ancestors fought at Culloden against the bloody English / German king. Some times later his grandma visited him. They went on a tour to Scotland. He came back. Shocked. She told him on the field that he remembered the great grandpa story only half. The ancestor fought at Culloden, but for that ...... king.

And if I was living where I do in 1745 and the draft came up I'd have fought on the British side. Whatever my points are none of them have been coloured by cartoon Nationalism.

Invisible officer wrote:And PA. Highland civilization? All these exile Scots that see the castles and paintings of well clad (and fed) nobles and dream of the glorious past. Forgetting that their expelled ancestors had been tennants and sub temmants living in turf huts. Give them two weeks of that great life in winter and they sell Scotland for a water closet. ;)

That's not even an argument, that's just insulting. Highland Culture was very distinct from pretty much any other and certainly not "Scottish", though the Walter Scott and shortbread element has claimed it as Scottish but a pre-Clearance Highlander was as foreign to a Lowlander as a Norwegian. They had a rich Civilisation of songs, stories, language and customs, they had their own language and they had their own non-British religion. They had a hard way of life, sure but let's not be condescending.

Invisible officer wrote:Did I wrote one word that the pleated kilt was worn there? My Kilt labels are proof that the British army call them Kilts today . Not plaids. I claim nothing else. And they are proudly worn by modern Highland soldiers.
Most of them know better than to dream of the living of a sub tennant in a primitive feudal system.

Proof against what, though? That was my point, kilts are an invention of the army and Highlander is a name for a regiment in these cases, not a nationality as it was before often the self same regiments ethnically cleansed them from the land.
I'm not insulting people in "Highland Regiments" but they aren't Highlanders, that culture was shattered two hundred years ago. They may be genetically descended from Highlanders (and your thoughts on such people are recorded in the first paragraph so you can't like them) and perhaps even from the Highland and Grampian geographical area (which is statistically unlikely) so their "Highlander" Identity is tied to the Army, Like the pride of being a Ranger or a Marine, hell even the SS.

Anyway, Can we get a Dodge WC51 truck cab and chassis and have variant parts to make the vanilla canvas up, down and parts for Ambulances, Ordnance Vehicles and what have you?

With this in mind then, how about some more armed civilians? Ideal for the VBCW type stuff as well as any number of Marquis types. A guy on a bike with a shotgun would translate to any number of 20th 'small war' century things.

Yes, you are right. W hat about some AA / AT gun tractors. And perhaps a limber for the existing 3,7 cm ? ;)

(But if someone dare to say it's possible to be proud of SS I have to get a big Malt to stay ..... .) ;)

I think it's possible to admire certain aspects of people without admiring others. A lot of the warriors, soldiers, whatever, of history we admire had deeply unpleasant sides to them, even when we apply appropriate contemporary values to their actions and beliefs.
