Problem is BD, shields were painted, not embossed. That was a movie liberty.

Great stuff! OK, maybe embossed shields aren't historically accurate, but it makes for a nice mini! Lovely cloak, captures the whole essence of him leaping - did he come with it, or have you made it? Can't wait to see the rest of the 300!

Good point Cubster..yes they were painted....and given the use of the shield as battering ram against the enemy any embossing on the thin bronze surface would be dented badly almost instantly......so really little point in going to all that trouble!

it wouldn't be historically accurate but might make it easy to paint the design in a modelling sense......but there are always transfers to do that I guess.

He came with the cloak......although in real life they would take them off before battle!
The 300 are in my case 23 in total.....they have had a few casaulties ;)

Thanks BD, I notice in the ancients new releases a Spartan king is now listed 8-) , anyone at WG able to give us an idea when a picture will be up? pretty please.

You do realise that the rock in Greece is Marble and Limestone rather than Granite.... :P

Just as well then that mine is made from Green Stuff....there is a rich vein of it at Thermopylae ;)

A little update.....
I used some of the rather wonderful Tamiya X27 red on the shield.....But I took the photo before i added a second coat!!! So now the blood splatter is a little darker at the centre.
