very impressive Mike, Love the base...and impressive paint job on the horse.
Nice Praetorian conversion on the sentry!!!! Looks like a big sale of the embossed shields to Feanor65!!!! Glad it came in useful ;)

Must add the mounted Emperor M.A. to my next shopping list!.....at this rate it is going to be a big one!
All my Photo's are now here!!! http://sisolders.wordpress.com/

Very n ... ice. Brilliant figures and scenics, esp the horse (as BD said). Looks like the edge, too ...

Simply great stuff!!! Might be a small thing, but I especially like how you blended the rock that comes with the emperors horse in with the rest of the base! :P

Fantastic stuff Mikeland...as ever. Very atmospheric.
Will you use it as an objective, just decoration on the table or is it just something in its own right?
And honoured to provide only the tiniest of input :D

Wow, thanks folks for the comments...

@BD thanks for the embossed shield, I think I will get a few more of these, okay, possibly not that historical but... I love the way they look, and easy to do. The Marcus A. Emperor figure is fantastic, the sculpt on the horse is brilliant. I got him as part of the reconfigured Hail Ceasar Praetorians box set.

@ carvel... When these guy get played with he will either be a command unit, or as you have suggested perhaps an objective, depending on the rules I use... If nether of those table candy. ;)

@14th Brooklyn... A mixture of miliput and liquid green stuff, just got the liquid gs,many having used it on a few bits I love it, and would say it is now an essential bit of modellers kit!

Awesome...yet kind of haunting...not sure why though.

It did make me think of one of my favorite movies....

Thanks chaps.

@correus, it is years since I saw that move, watched it as a kid, Obi-wan makes a great Marcus A. "these are not the Celts you are looking for". But you are right that is exactly the image I was looking for. I love the idea of the extremes of the roman empire, where the ancient wilds of the 'barbarians' came head to head with the 'civilisation' of Rome.
Despite the pronable protests of Invisible Officer, I do love Gladiator, which was made as an updated version of this, I especially that first half hour of Gladiator.

Well said.

I've decided to pop "The Fall of the Roman Empire" into the machine as background while painting later. If not that one - perhaps Caligula.

I do have to wonder if the person who sculpted the Marcus A. figure used Obi-wan, from TFOTRE, as inspiration. ;)
