Thanks folks, To be honest they are pretty simple, I intend to bling them up a bit more, the celts were well into their decorative arts so I think I will dress the huts with a few battle trophies.

@dan, thanks I will check em out.a rams skull could be useful.

@Cubster, cheers, you can never have enough skulls. Thanks for the Round house info you sent me, was very useful for getting the roofs right.

@carvel, yes, just a standard hand towel, I went for one that had fairly long hair, and then promised Mrs M I'd buy a replacement ;) . I watered down the PVA about 50% and just libberaly downed it and then combed to the right direction, took over night to dry but the joint lines were pretty much hidden. I just used a cut up large Christmas snack/nuts tube and then wrapped it with masking tape, and coated it with more PVA to give texture.

@Paul, yes, funnily enough reading a kids guide to the celts gave me the idea of using the skulls, the kids guide mentioned the importance the celts placed upon the head, hence beheading enemies!

Very, very nice - they already look very fine to me, but then I'm used to living in a hovel! I've been meaning to get on with some of these (and a Roman marching fort), but haven't had the time. I gave up on the "old wallpaper brush bristles" for roofing straw after learning of this old towel trick - you're really mastered it, though!
The cult of the head was quasi-religious; Celts believed the head to be the home of the soul or essence; keeping an enemy's head could prevent them from being reborn, either physically or spiritually, and some heads, covered in lime, were thrown as "magical" weapons. The heads were thought to "live on" after their removal, and could act as talismans - one's ancestors' heads could be good luck talismans, avert evil or offer advice; enemy heads of victory and power.

Hi Mike...been trawling through the spares trays....GW offer a lot of differenet skull types down the years.....the ones i have pulled out for you are from the most recent chaos warrior set. They were in there for decoration purposes..but thing that makes these stand out from all the other GW skulls is they don't have a lower jaw bone which of course would have fallen off in real life...they are also a lot smaller than their traditional undead heads.....so absolutely the right size in 28mm scale for human heads.

I have 10 of them some have spikes through but could be removed fairly easily......
if these are what you are after let me know and I'll stick them in the post.

Just wanted to say Superb huts...will be nicking this idea too!!!

Very nice work. And you surely had more fun doing them yourself than just buying some ready made stuff. And you can claim to recylcle. ;)

You know when you're very far away from Warhammer when you find yourself on a forum where a guy is asking for more skulls.
Let them eat Static.
