I set fire to my foxhole last year with one of them hexamine stoves. Or should I say "captured Esbit" stove. Ahem.

Better use the No. 2 Mk 2

I like it, never burned anything with it.

So I'm no candidate for the ultimate ...

Remember those hexy cookers well - we used to issue them and 24hr rat-packs to the guys going off on jaunts across the Brecon Beacons. Those hexy blocks stank though!

I remember watching The Apprentice a couple of years ago and some ex army type tried to cook sausages and bacon on something like that as a business venture. Epic fail!!  He managed to light the thing and it was like cooking over a candle!

Try the self heating US Army meals. No wonder that they claim to be hard soldiers. The smell is....... Ultimate stink.

Hexy cookers are still issue, the come in the 24hour ration packs. If you feel brave you can gently melt them into Esbit moulds. Just make sure the temps don't get too high ;)

Those might be the wimpiest stoves I've ever seen. You guys need something manly.

Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

In the jungle we binned the stove and used three, six inch nails - lighter and more robust.
