Not trying to be hyper-pedantic here, but a genuine question. Were Essexs' coats showing a lining in a contrasting colour or were they "facings" as we understand them to distinguish otherwise identically uniformed units (as in the NMA)?
Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some grenades, don't you think?

Just thought I'd add.. the most famous parliamentary Greencoat regiment was John Hampden's and they had green colours as well
