My early war cavalry. I apologise in advance for the camera work, and also having to link it, but I hope it gives you abit of an idea of how they'll turn out.

Another vote for Great War Miniatures.
Although I'd rather say Warlord... ;)
Well, one fine day we will get plastic WWI miniatures, I'm sure :ugeek:

Cheers

I would definately recommend Great War miniatures.

I have some LW cavalry. The British used them until the end of the war though mostly for scouting and in readiness for the eventual breakthrough. A British cavalry division was used to hold up the German advance in one area in 1918.

The Great War rules only had them fighting mounted initially but rules for them fighting dismounted were added with a later errata.
GWM only do EW dismounted figures at the moment :(

Okay, a couple of things.
First: I'm actually leaning towards Renegade Minis. I've got some of their ECW range and I just love the compact, solid feel the minis have - they're rather an intimidating presense on the board. They also have a 5-4-4 deal right now too that helps. Anyways, I checked Great War minis - the figs look good, but you sure don't get much for your money. Something like 7.50 GBP for seven foot or two mounted minis! :( Can anyone make any further suggestions before I make a decision. ;)
And would Great War minis possibly be at Historicon Convention in July. Who would I look for to get them there?
Second: While I'm at it can anyone suggest some good rules for the Great War? Prefferably Early War as I am geared more for mobilizing troops for that part of the conflict.
Thanks

I've got some lovely HLBSC Australian Light Horse, mounted and dismounted poses. I painted them a long time ago but really need to get round to repaints.

Hmm, should the price realy be the main factor?

When on a limited budget. Yeah :(

If you want very large units, true. But if not I think it's better to build the army slower, but with the best available.

I guess you want them for a longer time, not just a short run project and dump them? Imagin yourself in 10 years with them. Will you still like your choice?
In the long run the cheaper can be the more expensive. ;)

For what it's worth, I share this opinion because I find it more satisfying to have five models I really like rather than ten I can put up with. Right up there with going to an 'all you can eat' restaurant that serves up tons of muck instead of a plate of damn fine food.

But it's Lord Billy's call after all, since he's asking for help and advice for his own collection, not dictating how we should collect our own.

+1 of GWMs, they are head and shoulders above Renegade and also mix well with Soapy's stuff.

Looking forward to seeing the Devon Yeomanry in action ;)
