Missing/ damaged pieces in boxed sets

Hello first time poster here and I have a question. What can you do if you purchase a box set of minis and the mortar pieces are missing? This is what I found when I recently opened a box of waffen Ss. Also I purchase a box of the US airborne and every M1 carbine barrel broke upon trying to straighten them. The metal is quite soft in my opinion. Is it possible that these minis could be molded in a harder metal mix to prevent this from happening? I'll try to glue the barrels back on but two of the barrel were bent up really bad.

These are common issues with the Bolt Action minis - well, every manufacturer has the occasional missing piece - but the "brittleness" of the BA minis is something I have complained about as well. I have broken pieces - and not just barrels. One of my Japanese was tilted on his leg, when I straightened him, his leg broke! That'a a thick piece of metal, that shouldn't have been so brittle. The metal inside wasn't like regular minis-metal, it looked like a strange alloy.

Ah, maybe - it did have a core that could be called that. I am no metallurgist!

Email or ring warlord about the missing mortar, they will soon sort if for you. About the busted barrel... I just did the self same thing to a warden SS MP40 barel this afternoon. I tried to file it and failed so I drilled out a hole and have replaced it with a bit or metal rod! Annoying but a fairly easy fix.

Ive juat recieved my Japanese Jungle Squad and i ma very pleased with them But as indicated in this thread i too had a problem straightening a bayonet on the end of a rifle which simply broke off.No real drama as i will file the rest of the weapon down and go without a bayonet.It seems at times as though the material used for manufacture is very brittle and can snap easily this isnt the case with all the BA minis but i have to say a few seem to get passes that are a little disfigured.

I like Bolt Action and am on the verge of buying some more Japanese, but the casting process MUST be fine tuned because I know at least 5 people in my gaming group who won't buy due to casting issues. No offence, but if small companies can get well casted minis to the customer then so can Warlord, regardless of output.

I think this is very true. Paul did say he was getting a look into these issues, but clearly nothing has been done yet.

By comparison, Perry and Victrix have wonderful casting quality. So does über-tiny firm Heresy. I guess it can be done!

Most of the smaller companies use the old White Metal alloy which contains lead.THis allows the miniature to be more pliable and often gives a better casting.THe downside of this are of course the health issues associated with lead and if the figures is left unpainted for some time it can lead to oxidation and the slowly "rotting" away of the figure.

I think Warlord are using a similar alloy to that of what GW used to use before the Finecast. It results in a marginally inferior detail (virtually unnoticable but the moulds tend not to last as long) but a much harder ( as evidenced whent rying to pin) and sometimes a more brittle mini.
