Compatability?

Postby Centurion Dan » Sun Feb 05, 2012 5:15 pm

Hi folks,
Just won a very nice job lot on ebay which consists of a box of Roman Veterans, one of Praetorians (both WG) and sprues for 14ish Wargames Factory Celts. I was just wondering how compatable they were to WG's Celts and if there were any significant size differences?
I ask as I may start a Celtic warband after my Romans and it would be easier ordering from WG as they are this side of the pond.

Cheers!

Size wise they mix quite well I think. But quality of sculpting the WF ones are much poorer in my opinion. I would stick to the WG ones mainly, but you can mix a few WF in with em... Though I think Clive is probably your real expert.

I put the bid in for the Romans really - the Celts were just an added bonus. I guess I'll have to wait unitl they get here before making a decision on whether to use them or not.

Can't speak to the Celts, but when I picked up my $9 a box Warlord Britons, the shop owner also had 3 boxes of the Wargames Factory Romans to flog at the same price - my buddy picked them up, so now I have an enemy!

But back on point. I was actually impressed with how decent the WF stuff was, given the horrendous internet reviews, and the whole China-taking-over-the-factory and laying off of disabled workers stuff. That alone makes me not want to buy them.

And don't get me wrong: they weren't anywhere near as good as the Praetorian WG boxes that were also a bargain. But the WF stuff will do.
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

I have a few other boxes of WF they tend to be OK for size, but it is the way the are animated...just a bit wooden...not very dynamic....the heads tend to be bigger than W.G. and not as good as warlord....when i use a body from WF i tend to replace the head with a warlord one!...i think The WF Celts were one of their earlier efforts, they have got a lot better since then....but these might be a bit basic...............
However, if you find they aren't as good as you were expecting, I'll happily take them off you if you want to donate them to my school battlefield project, they could make up the numbers....I could send you some Roman shield transfers or somethng ;)
