Ok then here are the Spartans with the flesh wash stages done....awaiting highlighting.
The figures are by Crocodile games as for me, it was important to have them like the movie 300 rather than historic.....clearly Hollywood felt uncomfortable with Spartans in small skirts....so elected for the more macho "leather speedoes" look ;) that aside, i really like them....I'm not keen on the Pilos Helmet, though it is likely historically accurate, I much prefer Corinthian style helms....for me that is the icon of Ancient Greece....and Sparta.

Socrates (by reaper) is painted awaiting basing.
Leonidas is perched on a tiny piece of granite from my water feature......I pinned him....but drilling the granite broke my 1mm drill bit.....and then seconds after this picture was taken I knocked him over on the table and it all broke apart so he needs re assembling!!!
The shields were a little tricky to get right...i wanted them like the movie of course...so they were undercoated in brown....Vallejo Gold base coat, Vallejo brown wash..then Scorched brown made into wash and very librally applied, then to finish a dry brush with vallejo Gold.....it works for me!
Any way hope you like my efforts thus far...hopefully I'll get a bit further with them over weekend.

'macho' leather speedos... I can think of another word than macho... :o

Nice work so far... The guy jumping off the rock looks like he walked straight out of the frank miller graphic novel.

Did you prime them with the flesh colour?

Hi Mike, yes indeed, cut out the middle man under coat in Flesh!!!

Yes.....it is very difficult not to think of "Bonehead and Foyle" of comic strip fame.....when looking at those Spartan's Speedoes

Very promising. :D

I watched 300 shaking my head until I nearly got a whiplash. But hard to stop watching. Like a car accident?

But if you look for precious metals, why do you buy plastic miniatures? ;) ;)
