Re: Han Chinese army

Postby Augustus_Gaius » Wed Jan 04, 2012 10:55 pm

Right earlier today i ordered this command group set which contained 4officers, 2musicians and 2 standard bearers to begin this army of mine  hopefully they get here Friday, which means i can begin work on them then, the images on the website i ordered them from have them mostly painted up in a very dark red color, which looks to me to be very similar to "mechrite red" and i think i'll properly paint them as that as well for two reasons mostly: Looks pretty nice, and more importantly i have an abundance of red paints (thank you Romans) :P

also i found this website that looks to be very good for terrain making supplies, so subsequently i'm going to scratch build some terrain for this hypothetical scenario of mine, probably going to be han Chinese style (need to do more research) but it will mostly probably some sort of farmstead (see below), perhaps if i get motivated enough a fort :ugeek: okay perhaps i'm getting slightly ahead of myself here :L

anyway i'm very much looking forward to cracking on with this project, if anybody stumbles across any information that may be of use to me then please post it up...

cheers, Henry

Earlier I said something about making a farmstead, i think a simple rice paddy as is depicted in the following image will be a good starting point:

In fact, upon checking the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_an ... an_Dynasty
it appears i'm in luck in regards to terrain ideas, as it appears that the han made lots miniatures of there buildings!

nikgaukroger wrote:For the Han army you can do a lot worse than the Osprey by Chris Peers that covers the period - "Imperial Chinese Armies: 200 BC - 589 AD".

If you have time you could trawl through the Chine History Forum - http://www.chinahistoryforum.com/ - which does have a lot of useful information, but it is a discussion forum so you do have to take time to search :o

Belated thanks are in order for the book you recommended, have just ordered it :D
