Legio II Augusta - Been painting slingers

Postby Centurion Dan » Mon Dec 26, 2011 10:48 pm

Howdy folks,
I've finally got around to taking some pics of my century. I've got the first 16 glued together and somewhat converted one or two. I have also made a start on a small diorama of an officer making an offering to Mars accompanied by some of his staff.

Anyway, onto the pics.

They will be nice. Hope you will show us the first painted ones soon.

Well, some nagging. ;) You have not removed all the flash before assembly, that's much easier before. And the camery is brutal, showing everything.

Yeah, I know - but I got a bit to eager to get them started and I sort of skipped on the removal of flash. Normally I am pretty OCD about flash (done enough Marines from a certain well known sci-fi game in my time) but just wanted to get them glued together. I'm going to sit down and remove flash ASAP.

Good work so far Centurion Dan, nice conversions.

To be honest I tend to find it easier to remove the flash after assembling, I have big fingers and find cleaning up little parts fiddly, much easier on assembled models. Also when converting I can tidy up the joints and flash in one go.

Bugger - just spotted a wonky head  Looks like I'm going to have to decapitate one unfortunate legionary and reattach his head.

It'll be a good example to the rest.

Wasn't that a punishment for desertion or something?

Decimation? Aye, it was the ultimate punishment for Roman units who were deemed guilty of desertion or cowardice. One in ten were selected by lot and then executed. The remainder were returned to duty by were still considered in disgrace, presumably until such time as they had restored their honour.
