Greeks, Zulus or some 28mm WW2?

Thinking ahead to 2012, I will probably at some point in 2012 have the time to start another era. My pike and shotte forces are at a point where I am more adding the odd unit, or specialists, and my romans and Cekts are getting there, so if I do another period what should I do.

So, should I do...
1. Greeks, I know virtually next to nothing abouth these guys at all, but I love the models I'm seeing on the forum, and a totally new period has great learning opportunities.

2. Zulus. I really love the movies (who doesn't), and the period, studied it in a-level history and it has always held my interest, but... I am primarily a painter/modeller, and would I greet bored painting Zulus and redcoats...

3. WW2 I like ww2, perhaps in more of a Commando comic, Where eagles dare sort of way, but I love the look of the commandos and plastic Germans, and fancy painting a few tanks. The multi part ness of the plastics really appeals to me as a modeller... But, I painted a tonne of 1/32 ww2 2 years ago.... Also I have found some ww2 gamers/panters can be very dogmatic about uniform colours etc, which I fund a bit of a drag... I really mean that as no offence to anyone in here at all

So, what should I go for? Any thoughts.

Are you a gamer as well as a painter? if so the Greeks could be used against the Romans. it's be anachronistic, but less so than Romans Vs Redcoats!
I know just what you mean about the ww2 stuff, I got a few boxes of the BA plastic Germans and fancy adding a couple of tanks to play BKC2. None of my friends will notice the mistakes I will, invariably, make in the paint job, but i'll still know they're 'wrong'.
Plus i just don't know if i can paint the tanks as good as i want them to look. I don't mind splashing out on a tank and giving it a go, but i'd rather not make a hash of it, and i suspect that I would

If it were my choice (and also being a painter/converter myself rather than a gamer) I would consider doing a Rourkes Drift display with those plucky Welshmen holding out against thousands of Zulus.

Thaks for the 2p's worths! @ BigMike, I am primarily a painter modeller, but have played a couple of games this year. I have HC and will probably get BP at some point but to be honest I don't envisage this being a massive project at this stage... Greek have the advantage they fought each other a lot I suppose...

@ Centurion Dan, I do really love the Zulu war period, and a Rourkes Drift dioram would be a dream, I could make a smaller vignette to scratch the Zulu itch... I wonder if WG will sell the plastic sprues separately at some point.

I would plump for Greeks in 28mm. But thats my personal prefrences coming out.
I might...just might (forgive me warlords) just dip my toe with FOW lrdg.
There are toooooo many nice options with WW2
the Greeks allow more artistic license which well may suit you more.

Of course, the 2nd World War has to be one of favourite historical time periods.
If you want to do a more Commando comic style diorama, then why not look at certain films for inspiration. Steve McQueen jumping over a fence in his bid to escape from the Germans or maybe Kelly's Heroes taking on the Panzers in a bid to retrieve the gold?
Or even The Dirty Dozen!

True... Warlord have been promising plastic multpart late war US army for some time, so perhaps I could buy a box of them, paint 12 up, an a massive pile of dead Germans!

Yes if I do do WW2 it will be more comic book than history book I think.

Like you, I am tempted by all the Greeks on the forum right now! I also ventured into WW2, but successfully avoided the Zulus by stepping into the Sudan.

I suppose if it were me, and making that choice, I picked WW2 for the same reasons you are looking at them - no mass hordes, so easily accomplished painting project, and tanks! How could you go wrong?

When I look at the Commandos, I keep thinking of doing a Dieppe with some amazing monster Churchill tanks.
