Gentlemen of the UK, set your planners ...

Postby Cubster » Sun Dec 11, 2011 12:47 pm

... whilst checking for Rugby 7's highlights on the planner (S4C, late on Friday 16th) I found that next weekend - Saturday 17th - ITV4 are showing 'The Alamo', then 'Rio Bravo', then 'The Dirty Dozen'.

Well, that's my Christmas viewing sorted.

Set, now to just fight the kids to watch during the holidays

I actually got Gods and Generals two years ago and Gettysburg last year so was guarenteed some good viewing whilst off - have asked for different DVD's this year (Devil's Whore, Roots and Flash Gordon!) so will have to see if the big red fella brings me any of those.

Already started a stash of old war film dvds which can be obtained quite cheaply for my late night Christmas Holiday viewing. For me the old war films staring with the likes of Alec Guinness ,Steve McQueen.David Niven and Sean Connery have a certain charm without necessarily having authentic vehicles etc. I think it just shows how good actors these guys where compared to the "modern" bunch of today.

I always thought that Escape to Victory was one of Michael Cains 'turkey' films, so in a way very appropriate to watch it at Christmas.

But the Great Escape is bound to be on and then we can watch Steve McQueen riding his motorcycle

I was temporarily gutted. I'd forgotten I'd set the planner to record the rugby highlights last night and switched off the plug! Luckily I found the full Wales v Fiji game on Youtube, so happy days!
