ECW Wargaming Clubs

Postby Lord William Burke » Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:43 pm

Well I'm in for playing ECW games. I've got a good army going to. But...I can't seem to find any clubs to hook up with. Any suggestions?

Would like to hear about any and all there are, but I would prefer some Stateside- if they even have them over here. ;)
I suppose I can always hook up with a club at an event like Historicon, etc.
Anything in the Midwest?

Theres a group in Winnipeg, Canada; Several members play ECW. Manitoba Model Soldiers Society I think they are called. State side theres a group in Fargo North Dakota that play ECW but I don't recall the name of the group.

Why is the ECW so popular in the US? Shouldn't you guys be playing period games involving sweet potatoes and turkey?

Seriously? I used to live in Winnipeg. I played GW only then, though.

In Red Deer, Alberta, we have a loose gaming group, and there are two of us with ECW. A new set of Black Powder Pike and Shotte rules will probably make a few converts, though.

Actually Cubster, I don't think ECW is very popular over here. I'm just one of those guys that goes for new and interesting periods. However, I've managed to get a few friends interested. ;) We might be able to get something going.
I have to say World War II is probably the most popular. Wargame wise: Flames of War. Every Hobby Shop I go into has FOW. That or Warhammer Fantasy. :|
And we just eat the sweet potatoes and turkey. :D
