The old Osprey shows a drummer of the Foot Guards, the body of his drum is mid-blue and has some sort of crest in gold on it. I'd assume that it is the royal arms. The drum ropes are white. the rims at either end are also white, but edged in red and they have a wavy blue line running through the centre of the white.

What red are you using?

GW Foundation Paint (red) (You can mix Carmine with black), Carmine Red Vallejo and Vermillion Vallejo.

Excellent stuff, I always find reds and yellows a nightmare to paint so avoid like the plague. Hence most of my armies wear khaki!
Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some grenades, don't you think?
