Game scale/size - from Mr. Priestley

Postby grant » Fri Oct 21, 2011 12:34 pm

Rick Priesley said:Anyway - BA - yes it plays on a 4 foot wide table - it's aimed at games of say three infantry squads (sections/etc) plus supporting units and maybe two or three vehciles a side. It scales up to about three times that easily enough - and probably more - though that's about as far as we've gone so far. You'd need a bigger table to play a bigger game - just to cram everything on - and most heavy weapons including artillery has enough range to reach across a 4 foot table from the get go - but that's pretty much standard for WW2 games in 28mm and it would look strange were it otherwise I feel.

Great news for many, as I believe this will allow planning of forces - and timely for me as I just flogged the tail end of my Dwarf extras - enough to start BA (like I need more stuff - yes, yes I do... )

So... as a total newb to WW2 what does this translate to in terms of figures.

For Brits would that be say 3 10man rifle units? What about heavy supports & command?
And a few tanks?

What would this be for Germans? (Both brits and germans late war).

Okay, now this thread has got me I am planning for purchases I'm not even going to make till after christmas

Mike,

Assuming Bolt Action will use real world organisation you should find everything you need to know here

http://www.bayonetstrength.150m.com/

Germans have 3 x 9 man sections per platoon with a 6 man HQ

So BA will be the exact same size of Disposable Heroes games. Excellent.

Hey, I think we post on the same specialist websites! Is your ID 'Sado-Snow White'? I'm 'Umpa-Luvva'.

So I have been mulling it over, wondering what I am going to spend my Dwarf floggings on, and every time I thought of Canadians, I just keep thinking I am just repeating all my work that I have done in 15mm, so...

Banzai! Something completely different. I believe I may just order a pair of Japanese infantry boxes and a Chi-Ha (totally cool looking tank). Plus, if I really want to, I can have them fight Canadians at Hong Kong or some such.

Banzai! Banzai! Banzai! Order placed.

It has been made very clear by members and Paul I am not welcome on this forum because I don't bend over and agree with everything warlord does.

Unfortunately I don't care what any of you think...at all.
