Painting Perry Plastic French

Postby RedRowan » Thu Oct 06, 2011 7:55 am

Hi guys, been out of the hobby for a few years and got the itch to start painting and possibly gaming again.

As I'm so out of practice, I bought the French command sprue rather than buy a whole box set just to practice on a couple of figures and see if my skills are up to scratch. I just wanted to know if the painting guide included in the box is available to purchase separately?

Cheers

There's usually uniform guides included in the perry plastic sets but they're not painting guides as such. The main thing I reckon is to find a good shade of blue for the uniform.

Thanks for that Jajf, I think I'm probably getting mixed up with the uniform guides and such printed on the back of the box.

Check out this site, it is my favourite for uniform guides.

You're welcome! It was the best site I found. I print out the stuff I want and make a journal/scrapbook and then keep a diary of what colours I use. That way a year from now I can add a unit and match the colours perfectly. It will be my archival journals to pass on to the miniatures museum someday. LOL.

Good luck, and be sure to post pics !

what he was supposed to say was a good shade of red, because you want to do swiss *force powers* you will do swiss
It has been made very clear by members and Paul I am not welcome on this forum because I don't bend over and agree with everything warlord does.

Unfortunately I don't care what any of you think...at all.

Actually, the Perry slip includes a nice Swiss 2nd battalion. Also, cent-jours has a nice guide

Actually, already thinking about this after seeing an example of the Perry box set painted that way. Plan is to put together 2 or 3 battalions at first and one of those will probably be Swiss. :)

Fingers crossed my paints will turn up this week and I can have a bit of a play with the samples I have. Been reading a few painting blogs and things have changed quite a bit, no army painter or dipping the last time I held a brush. Will be interesting finding a method that works for me again.

the Army Painter stuff is excellent. There are a lot of threads on here about it - the best tip to not "dip" but rather to brush it on.

Check out this website: http://djokergaming.wordpress.com/ - he uses the Army Painter and then brushes on highlights, to great effect.

Good luck and be sure to post pics!
