Well I just recently bought the German airborne along with the rulebook so I wanted to try a simple small piece of terrain for a start. The thought was to have a sort of trenched defense most likely for artillery guns. This was loosely based on the Company of Hero's British defenses - you'll know what I mean if you've played the game. Right now it's just an idea taking shape so it looks pretty shabby at the moment, so bare with me - and also that grey foam stuff sucks..

I do have insulation foam but it's very thick stuff, which means I have to work with it outside in the garage (& it's freezing/raining here) so I don't fancy it. Any the foam will be cover with textured paint or sand so you won't even know. Just kinda sucks to work with it.
Another quick update: What do you guys think I should add inside? I only had some idea's like barrels, ammo dump, crates, maybe a howitzer - camo net on top?
Looks good. A camo net would be good. Sprinkle some dried tea leaves on it for foliage and then paint it. It looks like it would make an excellent AA gun nest.
tea leaves - good idea! Although I only seem to have the dried dark brown stuff, will post a picture below. Is that the stuff you normally use? I think the camo nets a good idea, although I haven't thought how to do it & it'll be quite awkward to position troops under it.
You could have the net poles higher that the front than the back, giving a sloped net roof. Very common to do if you're covering a gun or a mortar nest so perfectly historically accurate. We've done it ourselves based on photographs at re-enactment events.
