TANKS!

Postby polarbird2 » Sat Oct 01, 2011 10:25 am

hi! :D

i have a question to all the experienced collectors/gamers out there (again)
im going to start a completely new Polish army and would really like some tanks but...
well first of all i dont know if there are any tanks that i should know about, ones that were specifically Polish... i seriously doubt it.
i also wanted know if i could use tanks from the revel airfix ranges and if so then what scale would i have to get because i know that even they have the same scale on the box they might be different once assembled.

any kind of tips and info would be much appreciated

Your plastic kits are most like 1:76 or 1:72, so the plastic 1:72 scale models or 20mm would be the best fit.

Poland had a few tanks in service in 1939 - the TK tankettes; TK-3 with an MG and the TKS with a 20mm gun, the 7TP with a 37mm AT gun and MG (there was also a less successful twin-turret version with two MGs) and the French built Renault R35 with a 37mm gun and MG. Although designated a light tank with thinnish skin the gun of the 7TP could penetrate pretty much anything the Germans had in the way of tanks.

20mm? Go for a man's scale like 28mm!

We currently have the TKS tankettes and have the R35 on the way from our purchase of Bolt Action Miniatures. We're currently having an Ursus armoured car built for the Poles too as well as both variants of 7TP...
Cheers,

:D 28mm all the way!
I will be buying the 28mm polish squad and what i meant was: are there any places where i can get more tanks from the same scale? 1:56 i believe? i havent found any but there must be someone that makes them? i know i can get them from here but i was also wondering if i can get them from anywhere else? reason being, im really cheap :P and i always look for the cheapest option available.

So ... you came on the Warlord site asking for details of any manufacturers who undercut Warlord?

Wow.

Good luck with that, I don't know of anyone else who does Polish tanks in 28mm scale other than Bolt Action.

The only plastic kit scale really compatible with is 1/48 and they tend not to be particularly cheap. There are some pre-paint diecast models you can get at 1/50 or thereabouts but I doubt there is much available in the way of Early War Polish tanks.

The Society of 20th century wargamers has a whole list of suppliers for different scale figures/models.
