Stopping in 1918 they avoid a lot of problems. Even getting some financial support from the state for being a scientific society. You know the good people asking: "Arms and military? How....."
Same with ancient times or medieval times reenactment, romantic , cute, political correct. Napoleonic, hmmm colourfull, acceptable. WW I doubtfull. And WW II / modern? Bad, soooo bad. Not acceptable.
We have the same with wargaming.......
