FORUMS TO BE LOCKED

Postby Paul @ Warlord Games » Tue Sep 06, 2011 8:42 am

Morning all,

Nothing to be concerned about - just a heads up that over the next 24 hours or so we're moving the site to a dedicated server. This will increase speed as well as dealing with the occasional SQL error which has on occasion reared it's unwanted head. We are also pointing it to our new domain name - http://www.warlordgames.com.

During the downtime the forums will still be readable.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi everyone, especially the chaps who noticed the issues this morning with missing posts the forums are now open again at their new home http://warlordgames.com/forum/.

If you have issues connecting please clear your cache and/or cookies, it will take a little time for browsers to make the change from .co.uk to .com so you could potentially see either.

Apologies for the forums being locked for longer then expected but we did have an issue with some of the data not migrating which I think is now sorted. However if anyone else notices anything odd then please let me know by replying here.

The thread that started this morning about the issues on the .com has gone, again apologies for that it hasn't been deleted but I needed to revisit the .co.uk database for the missing data so anything that had been posted this morning has been written over.

The aim of this move to a dedicated server is to improve your experience when visiting Warlord Games, preventing things like SQL connection errors etc. plus it has also given us the opportunity to migrate over to warlordgames.com. A redirect will be in place shortly to help smooth the transition between the two domains however I would like to point out that these changes have had no impact on the web store so please do not worry about using it if you have plans to.

Thank you everyone for your patience these changes are very positive for the future of the Warlord Games website.

All the best
Andy

The forums aren't remembering me - I have to log in each time I visit, despite ticking the box.

Some of the tabs at the top still point to the .co.uk addresses.

Thanks for the feedback Phil, some of the tabs have got .co.uk still on purpose as I am waiting for bits to move across in the domain name servers. The plan is to run both sites in tandem for a little while but with one store and one forum so no duplication in key areas and with the idea of carefully phasing the .com in as the primary website.

Regarding remembering you at login and for anyone else who is having issues getting into the forum please try clearing your cache and history which can be found under tools, then closing and reopening your browser to clear out the old forum cookie - this worked for me.

@Big Al, thank you very much for your kind words very appreciated, I am trying my hardest to minimise downtime!

Thanks Andy - that worked a treat.

And thanks to everyone for being so patient. All of this has been done to make things better for all of us.

Thanks all @ Warlord Andy esp. for the advice posted

I've deleted all the Warlord cookies, deleted the history, cleared the cache, and it still can't remember who I am. I don't think it likes me.

Once you get them running, you can stay on top of them, and that way a small force can defeat a large one every time
