Ohh, alrighty. I understand somewhat better. I've been reading guides and such every chance I can get.

Hopefully, I can do a decent job at them!
I will upload pictures as soon as they arrive and are finished!

Thank you for all the help!

I'm guessing the "other company" ones are Artizan metals? If they are metal then if you aren't happy with them you can always snap off the plastic bases and dump them in a cup of paint stripper and start again.

I agree with the other guys . You would need to INVEST in a decent starter book such as the GW one mentioned by the others. You need to understand the basic principles of painting such as the colour chart and how highlights work and indeed shading. I wouldn't use the dipping method unless you are already knowledgeable about the said techinques as I classify dipping as an advanced technique of which you will need learn to walk before you can run.

As regards paints I would stick to acrylics , whatever your chosen make may be as with the exception of Tamiya all are intermixable. You would also need to use decent brushes. I wouldn't be tempted with the current GW ones, though the wash brush is a useful brush to acquire, as I find them losing their shape after a few uses. The best hobby brushes I can recommend are from the Army Painter range which are available through Warlord.

Anything else you need to know just ask! and Good Luck ;)

Don't forget to check out the Steve Dean painting forum as well as this one. There is a nice inspirational tutorial by 'Captain Blood' in the painting section. Artizan miniatures site also has a painting tutorial and also check out Artmaster Studios site as they have links to live and archived painting demos. Oh and I recommend using a 'wet palette' to keep the paint you are using from drying out, which you will see more about in the Captain Blood tutorial.
Happy Painting!! :)

Most of all you need one thing: Training.

If I look back to the models and miniatures I painted 30+ years ago..... :(

Don't expect to get everything perfect at first try. Try and error, that's the way.

Not every method is best for every painter. One gets good results with one method, the other not.

So test some and find out the one that suits you.
