Perry ACW miniatures

Postby Ben_Stewart » Wed Oct 01, 2008 5:03 pm

Just been poking around their website and saw the previews of their command figures - They've got General Hill which I'm chuffed about given I was considering basing an army around the british force at Arryo Dos Molinos (Mainly cos the Cumberland 34th of foot were there). I was hoping to get started with the army soon but looks like I'll have to be patient.

Great minds think alike! Growing up near Carlisle, the 34th are the natural choice for me. Spent lots of my Saturday afternoons as a kid wandering around the Border Regiment museum, drinking it all in.

Fancy that - I'm from Cockermouth originally and me brother was in the Borderers so I just went for the 34ths Best known battle… plus it means I can include some green jackets from the 60th for variety.

I've been reading 'Ensign Bell in the Peninsular War', by George Bell - it's subtitled "The experiences of a young British soldier of the 34th Regiment 'The Cumberland Gentlemen' in the Napoleonic Wars".

A typical product of its time, it is a charming book, full of nice little anecdotes and stuff about the war. I got my copy from Wargames Illustrated.

Oh no not more plastics to rob me of me welf. Me poor walletses. Seriously though, they are some lovely minis (both Victrix and Perry) and I am really tempted at trying out a "black powder" period now.

What are you up to at Warlord Paul? I was actually hanging on to see what you guys are doing to coincide with the release of your rules set.

Well, in time we'll do all periods! Curently we doing the Black Powder rulebook and then will do a supplement for English Civil Wars to extend the period covered to bring in pike and shot.

For models we're well down the road on our next ranges. Suffice to say its not one army/period but beyond that you'll have to watch this space until we're ready to show them off.

Cheers

Sometimes you sound like an oracle.

I'd love to see some ECW at some stage, preferrably in plastic.

However, I hope you'll do a lot more Roman period stuff, too.

Cheers
