Spam

Postby Paul @ Warlord Games » Sat Jun 11, 2011 3:58 pm

With the advent of the new forums you'll have noticed an increase in spammers. We're doing our best to delete these as they happen and our developer is working hard to put into place barriers against the pesky things.

Can I please ask that you drop me a line to paul@warlordgames.co.uk when you come across one of these and we can take immediate action.

Thanks!
Cheers,

Paul Sawyer

Hi Paul

There is a monster load of spammer out there at the moment.

Increased spam activivity for PHP boards started a couple of months ago.

On the NA board everyone who registers has to be approve manually.
All these folk get checked on http://www.stopforumspam.com/search
And then they get banned by username, IP, and mail address.

You have to be careful with the IP, but as a less international affair than your good selves I can block eastern European IP's with out so much as a damn their eyes for the inconvenience

Oh no Mr Mikeland, you're not getting me again!

That cream I bought to make my manhood look bigger was a complete waste of money. As soon as I squeezed some out to rub it on, it shrunk my flipping hands!

Thanks - I've passed this along to our developer and he's quite taken with it!

The N44 site doesn't allow registration with IP's and emails from "selected area's of the world" and if those who register don't post in two weeks they get binned.

There was a new user on here last weekend if I remember correctly. With the benefit of hindsight their activity looked a little odd. They were posting on about a dozen unrelated threads with odd, inane comments like "I agree"; "cool one" "Like it" etc etc. No real substance or relevance. Looked like an effort to get their post count up quickly.

If I notice it again I'll flag it up.

Alternatively it may just have been a new user who's first language wasn't English making an effort to be friendly. The recent comments regarding spam made me think otherwise though.

My fave comment was 'My younger brother loves it!'

Genius. Pity the thread was about colonic irrigation.
