Starting French and Indian Games

Postby 51st_Don » Wed Jul 06, 2011 4:36 pm

Hello All (New to the forum and first post).

A friend and I are looking into playing skirmish style French and Indian War-games. I am starting work on a rule set that mimics some of the elements of games we liked but no longer play (Mordheim and Necromunda). Haven't started collecting figures yet either. Any thoughts are appreciated.

What I am sure will happen is the models we collect will make their way into large full scale forces that may result in divorce threats or lack of daylight! lol!

For true FIW minis, check out Conquest Miniatures, they have an extensive range and even terrain. And even special characters from Last of the Mohicans. Can't to wrong!

I think both mordheim and necromunda would be great points to jump off from.

Also, Warlords forthcoming BP supplement covers FIW extensively. So lots to think on!

Keep us posted!

Those Conquest Miniatures look absolutely beautifully cast and sculpted. Not a period that has ever gripped me but I would love to paint some of these. Do you think that some of the 500 nations could be matched with some carefully selected Warlord Pike and Shotte to represent the early settlers/ pilgrim fathers, or are they (the conquest native americans) too much a later period?

Thinking could make a great diorama.

You bet. I think they would work fine. Especially with some of the Puritan looking types!

If you're looking for skirmish games try This Very Ground

I'll second this! They are specifically FIW rules and I use an adaptation of them for Maori Wars too. I also use Ironivan rules for WW2 skirmish. The thing is that both sets use the same mechanisms. Our club has chosen to go with Blue Moon Miniatures (Old Glory) 18mm, which is an excellent range of figures.
