smugly I'd like to remind everyone that I did indeed guess these correctly in a previous post. WinkIMO can't see any issue/problem WG releasing these, the more plastics the better = of any range/period.

Hi C.C……..you are of course,  right…….but my daughter has some of the amazons, they aren't great compared with WG or IM but they are the only ones available!!! So I already have some long pikes!! I do a lot of converting to fill the gaps and also to change poses etc so i get used to buying a couple of boxes to get one sometimes………..if you thought the Amazons were bad you should see the Roman cavalry!!! I had my work cut out there, but i couldn't really afford lots of metal ones!*...*I'm sure the Macedonians are fantastic, but they don't get me very excited…I'll just wait and see what's next.

Ah, when you already have some bits lying around that does seem like a good idea of course! While the Roman cavalry are, as far as I have seen them, bad because of poor anatomy and details, the Amazons put me off more because of rather poor design. Where the Romans are, or so I may hope, historically accurate, the amazons should be a bit of a mixture of history and mythology, those models.. bit too much fantasy chick and not quite enough history to my liking. The helmets and weapons look good though, so I can see how you could use those. Indeed, I would love to see the results! Then I must also add that I do get rather excited by these Macedonians, ever since I read some ancient  texts on Alexander, his personality and of course his military conquests have amazed me, and what army would one rather play than one that never lost a battle? Curious to what WG is planning for this range, while cavalry are of course an obligation I'm quite looking forward to seeing what they do with, to name something, hypaspistes, as so little is known of their equipment.

Gday all            Well i too was expecting a different ancient range and although they look good there are quite a few manufacturers doing Macedonians in plastic as was previuosly mentioned.Victrix are supposed to be releasing their greek range in June this will coincide with Warlords planned release.Odviuosly Warlords have put a bit of thought into this release and i feel this range will be very risky this will truly test out Warlords avid supporters. There you have it im a bit disapointed and expected a range no one else does but thats lifeWink                  Cheers Marcus T

I too am a bit lost on the fact people seem to think Macedonian phalangites already exist (in plastic), for if they did I wouldn't be that excited by these! It is true that ancient Greeks have been a popular army to make lately, but those hoplites by Victrix and the first kit by IM were more for Persian wars if I'm not mistaken (early 5th century BC), with IM having two boxes of later hoplites (general and Spartan) for use in the Peleponnesean war (430 BC) and into the Hellenistic era (400-323). However, there is the difference of a 9' spear and a 18' pike (size does matter). To illustrate:

Hoplite vs Phalangite  There is a 200 year gap between most greeks on the market (golden era) and those used in the wars of Alexander. That's like using Napoleonic models in your WWII games. Not quite right, is it? Armour is different. Weapons are different. Hairstyles are different. Ergo, the models are different.Besides, they even come from a different region. I'm not going to start a Macedon: how Greek was it back in the day and how Greek is it nowadays debate, as that turns out to be a rather sensitive point even 2300 years after Alexander's death, but there seems to have been a bigger difference between Macedon and the other Greek city-states than between Corinth and Thebes.Thing is though that IM have been busy with this period a bit already, and were also planning to release an entire Macedon range. Now it was not yet made public, but in the words of Stephen May (dated 6-6-2010):"Macedonians are definately on the list, probably for next year. I just need to do some proper research on them!"
