Axes

Postby mikeland » Sun Mar 20, 2011 9:26 am

Does anyone know if it would be historically inaccurate to use a few of the spare gripping beast viking axes for the open handed Celtic warriors, did the celts use axes?I am probably going to do them as germanic tribesmen to fight imperial romans. (am going to get a box of Germanic tribesmen as well as the standard box of celts).I am also planning on doing some roman auxiliaries, but want to make them rag-tag, and might give some of them not standard equipment, taken from their foes so the same question applies to these.Have done some preliminary web based research but found in inconclusive.

Axes

That is good to know, wasn't exactly sure of the contents of the Germanics box. I bought the generic Celts as a tester, wasn't sure what direction I was going to take with them at that point so thought the basic box was a good start. I may give a few roman auxiliaries some of the celtish hand weapons then when I get round to doing them.
