I haven't painted any yet, but I have wondered the same, since it's an odd sort of colour and seems to differ ever so slightly depending on which picture you look at. I guess since it was kind of an experimental colour at the time you can expect variations in exact shade, especially with the effects of campaign and the sun.If you wanted a blueish shade then I guess Citadel's Shadow Grey wouldn't be far wrong, but personally I'd opt for the Bluey-Green-Grey option and start with Vallejo's Gunship green as a base and work up from there using something like Citadel's Space Wolves Grey to lighten the shade for highlights and get a hint of blue in.

Help with Sudan Cavalry Corps Paint sceme ?

I use Vallejo Dark Blue Grey, fits the bill perfectly in my opinion. But obviously nobody really knows for sure how they looked, especially after exposure to the unforgiving sun. This discussion might be of interest (nice pics as well..): http://www.victorianwars.com/v.....amp;t=3726 Those are not mine but this is pretty much exactly how I painted my Perry Sudan British:  @ Cubster: sounds interesting, you gotta paint one up at some stage. The Perry Sudan range is awesome, one of my favourite line of miniatures! I really need to get them all painted at some stage before they release the plastic Fuzzy Wuzzies...For now I go back to my Saxon Thegns though :) Cheers S.P.

Thanks both, i was looking at either Vallejo Dark Blue Grey or Grey Blue or GW Shadow Grey but i will try the Dark Blue Grey. I was thinking of lightening some and darkening a few just to mix it up, what fun next weekend will be. Any thoughts on the breeches Gents - Pleasesteve

Help with Sudan Cavalry Corps Paint sceme ?

Hello folks. Likewise I have been inspired by Snooks book and have always admired the perrys Sudan range. I was given several regiments for Christmas (now how on earth did my family know I wanted them for Christmas ! ) However, I am keen to get them painted and ready for a Black powder battle (Also spurred on with the knowledge that the perrys will be releasing mahdi forces in plastic) I took the route of the painting plebiscite and used army painter uniform grey spray to paint my infantry. This has a slight blue tint and with the strong dip worked quite well. I used vallejo light grey for some basic highlights. I also found citadel bleached bone, when combined with the dip, worked quite well for the helmets and webbing.
