Starting ACW

Postby jmilesr01 » Mon Jan 17, 2011 8:48 am

Watto: I use black powder with 6mm baccus ACW figures and think it works great.  As per the rules, the distance measure used is centimeters rather than inches but that allows for some fairly large games on an 8x4 table - which equates to a 20' x 10' foot table for 28mm I use the standard baccus basing of 60mm x 30mm for infantry and calvary units.  Artillery and command are of 30mm x 30mm squares.  The big difference I use is that units consist of one stand rather than multiple ones.  This works for the ACW period as there are rare occasions for infantry squares.  Single base units also speeds up play dramatically as physically moving units is easier. The rules give a good feel for the period and I'm hoping for a ACW supplement in the near future Miles

I believe there is one in the pipeline as revealed by Rick Priestley in his interview.
